Learning Objectives:

Understand the evolution, signs, symptoms and health implications of peri-menopause and menopause, but also Premature Ovarian Insufficiency and medically/surgically induced menopause

Identify the common challenges women may face at menopause, and be familiar with relevant literature to support our role in optimising menopausal health & wellness, including differential diagnosis and risk factors for common challenges at this life stage

Discuss the options for medical management, as well as non-hormonal, physiotherapy and lifestyle strategies for menopause-related changes and averting potential disease risks, such as cardiovascular, cognitive and musculoskeletal, including bone, muscle, tendon & joint health

Recognise specific challenges associated with Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause, including dysfunctions of bladder, bowel and dyspareunia, but also appreciate the evidence base to support a pelvic rehab approach

Develop an appropriate exercise prescription for symptom management, as part of a menopause tailored healthy lifestyle, educating and empowering women to take charge of their health & wellbeing, optimise function and promote a healthy lifespan, before, during & after menopause
